Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) has approved an amnesty programme designed to assist students who could not graduate due to failed final-year courses. The decision was made during a recent Senate meeting aimed at addressing academic challenges facing affected students.
Programme Details
The amnesty initiative targets students from the 2016 academic session onwards who have outstanding failed courses preventing their graduation. Under this programme:
- Affected students will participate in short lecture sessions
- Examinations will be administered specifically for failed courses
- The programme aims to help students clear their outstanding papers and graduate
Implementation
Professor Nathaniel Ojekudo, Director of ICT, will coordinate with Faculty Deans and Heads of Departments to schedule the programme and notify impacted students about their participation.
Other Senate Decisions
The Senate meeting, held on August 28, 2025, also addressed several other matters:
- Agricultural Initiatives: The Faculty of Agriculture was encouraged to engage in large-scale farming to generate revenue for the institution
- Professional Development: The Entrepreneurship and Human Resources Management departments were urged to organize consultancy services and professional programmes
- Textbook Policy: The Senate Chairman cautioned against forcing students to purchase specific textbooks from lecturers
- Accreditation: Resource verification for twelve programmes scheduled for September 2025
