University of Jos, UNIJOS post UTME and Direct Entry screening exercise application form for the 2020/2021 academic session has been released. Eligible UTME and Direct Entry candidates are hereby encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

UNIJOS Post UTME / DE Screening for 2023 and 2024 JAMB Candidates

UNIJOS Post UTME / DE Screening Exercise: The University of Jos Senate has approved that all qualified candidates who applied for admission into the University in the 2023 and 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations /Direct Entry (UTME/DE) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) should be screened.

The Senate of the University of Jos (UNIJOS) has approved the screening of all qualified candidates who applied for admission through the 2023 and 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations /Direct Entry (UTME/DE) conducted by the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB). The screening exercise is open to candidates who chose the University of Jos as their first choice and scored not less than the institutional cut-off marks and differential cut-off marks as stated below.

The deadline for the online screening of bio-data/credentials may not be extended. Therefore, any candidate whose screening details are not submitted within the stipulated time will not be considered for admission.

Candidates Eligible for UNIJOS Admission Screening Exercise

Eligible UTME candidates must have chosen University of Jos (UNIJOS) as First Choice and scored not less than the institutional cut-off mark at 180 and the differential score for various Faculties/Programmes as stated below:

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has indicated that it would not clear any shortlisted candidate who does not have ‘O’ level results.  All candidates therefore, are advised to visit any JAMB Office or accredited CBT centre nearest to them to upload their ‘O’ Level results (WAEC, NECO and NABTEB).

All candidates who do not satisfy the University screening conditions below are advised to provide details for consideration by other institutions.  (Note that supplying false information will result in disqualification).  You are allowed to supply a maximum of two different ‘O’ level examination results.

How to Apply for UNIJOS Post UTME Screening

All candidates are required to:

  1. Visit the Unijos portal: portal.unijos.edu.ng
  2. Click on FORM APPLICATION
  3. Click on 2023/2024 UTME/DE SCREENING
  4. Enter the Candidates JAMB Registration Number and click Get Started
  5. Candidates will be required to provide the following:
    1. Contact Phone Number.
    2. Email (Please provide active personalised email not that of relatives or friends).
    3. Password (Please provide an easy to remember word or number).
    4. Confirm Password and click the ‘sign up’ button.
  6. An Email message will be sent to the candidates Email account. Candidates should check the University mail and click the confirmation link after which the system will display an acknowledgement page confirming the account and a link to the portal login.
  7. At the login page https://portal.unijos.edu.ng/Account/Login, Candidates are required to enter their email and password provided in step 5. The system takes every candidate to their personalised dashboard. Names should be written starting with the First Name, Middle and Surname.
  8. To effect payment, Candidates are required to process all payments from their dashboard only. Click on the button ‘Pay Screening Charges’ and select the preferred payment option or channel (ATM Card, Bank Branch, Internet Banking) then follow the instructions or prompts. (NB: for Bank branch payment, candidates may need to redo steps 7)
  9. Upon Successful payment, all candidates are to enter five relevant ‘O’ level subjects, their grades and exam body and Click Upload. Note: Editing of results will not be allowed once post-JAMB screening is closed.
  10. Print the Screening Registration Slip, Log out and await further communication from the University.

Registration Deadline

The Online registration portal for the screening will be on with effect from 10th July, 2024 to 21st July, 2024.

Direct Entry Screening

This is to inform all candidates who applied for Direct Entry admission into the University of Jos, that there will be an online screening exercise with effect from 22nd July, 2024 to 18th August, 2024.

Please note that only candidates who applied through Direct Entry JAMB Admission and chose the University of Jos as their first choice are eligible for the screening.

Direct Entry (DE) applicants are to follow the same steps 1 to 10, in addition to including the A-level subjects/qualification in step 9 above.

B.         NOTE: JAMB ‘O’ LEVEL REQUIREMENT

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has indicated that it would not clear any shortlisted candidate who does not have ‘O’ level results.  All candidates are therefore, strongly advised to visit any JAMB Office or accredited CBT centre nearest to them to upload their ‘O’ Level results (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB and NBAIS) into the JAMB portal.

All candidates who do not satisfy the University screening conditions as stated above are strongly advised to change their course of choice or transfer to other Institutions.  (Note that supplying false information will result to disqualification).

Candidates are allowed to use a maximum of two different ‘O’ level examination results.

About UNIJOS

The University of Jos (UNIJOS), abbreviated as Unijos, is a federal university in Jos, Plateau State, central Nigeria. The school offers courses in law, medicine, pharmacy, natural sciences, social sciences, the built environment as well as arts and humanities.

What became University of Jos was established in November 1971 as a satellite campus of the University of Ibadan. The first students were admitted in January 1972 as pre-degree students with the first Bachelor of Arts degree program begun in October 1973. In October 1975, then military government under General Murtala Mohammed, established the Unijos as a separate institution.

The first Vice-Chancellor of the Unijos was Professor Gilbert Onuaguluchi. Classes began at the newly reorganized University of Jos in October 1976 with 575 students spread over the existing four faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Education, Natural Sciences and Medical Sciences. Post-graduate programs were added in 1977. By 1978 Faculties of Law and Environmental Sciences were established and the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences were separated.

In 2003, the Carnegie Corporation of New York gave Unijos a US $2 million grant to form its own fundraising department.
