ABU Academic Calendar 2025/2026: Complete Schedule for First and Second Semesters

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria has released its approved academic calendar for the 2025/2026 session. The Senate approved the schedule on September 25, 2025, outlining key dates for registration, lectures, examinations, and breaks.

First Semester Schedule

Registration Period

Student registration runs from January 5-17, 2026 (two weeks). The Add/Drop period is scheduled for February 2-14, 2026.

Lecture Period

First semester lectures begin January 12, 2026, and continue until March 21, 2026 (10 weeks). A mid-semester break is scheduled for March 23-28, 2026. Lectures resume March 30 and continue until April 25, 2026 (additional 4 weeks).

Examinations

First semester examinations run from April 27 to May 16, 2026 (3 weeks). The semester break follows from May 18-30, 2026.

Second Semester Schedule

Lecture Period

Second semester lectures commence June 1, 2026, and run until July 25, 2026 (8 weeks). A short break is scheduled for July 27 to August 1, 2026. Lectures continue from August 3 to September 12, 2026 (6 weeks).

Examinations

Second semester examinations are scheduled for September 14 to October 3, 2026. The Add/Drop period for second semester is June 22 to July 4, 2026.

Important Notes

The calendar includes provisions for result processing, departmental board meetings, and Senate presentations for graduating students. All national and state holidays will be observed as scheduled.
