AKSU Update on NELFUND Loan Procedures and Refund Process
Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) has released important updates on NELFUND student loan procedures for the 2024/2025 session, including refund eligibility, course registration requirements, and a significant policy change.
NELFUND Refund Eligibility
Students who applied for NELFUND loans and paid tuition fees before the loan was disbursed qualify for refunds:
- Graduating students: Refunds will be processed directly
- Students proceeding for an extra year: Refund amounts will be credited toward the 2025/2026 session
Required Fee and Documentation
- Pay ₦2,000 to upload academic results online
- When visiting the ICT Directorate for course registration, bring:
- NELFUND loan slip
- Proof of ₦2,000 payment
- Evidence of any outstanding balance payments
Exam Clearance
Students who have not completed course registration before exams start must obtain a written document from the Directorate of ICT to be eligible to sit for examinations.
Major Policy Change
AKSU has officially abolished the option to suspend studies due to financial constraints. Students facing financial hardship should now apply for NELFUND loans instead of requesting a suspension of studies.
Portal Updates
Students with successfully disbursed loans will see their portal status updated to reflect the disbursement.
AKSU students who have NELFUND loans should ensure they complete course registration and upload their results to avoid issues with exam eligibility.
