Practical tips for students and parents

Use the calendar to build a clear plan. The tips below are practical, low‑cost and suited to the Nigerian school context.

• Create a term study plan: Map weekly study goals around major exams (BECE, WAEC, NECO, internal CAs). Start with subjects that have early exams and allocate daily revision blocks.
• Prioritise past questions and timed practice: For national exams and end‑of‑term papers, practise under timed conditions and review common question types.
• Use graduation rehearsals strategically: Students involved should balance rehearsal hours with evening revision; rehearsals are scheduled midday on Wednesdays.
• Attend PTA meetings: PTA meetings (13 May and 23 June) are key for parents to confirm academic progress, payments and participation in end‑of‑term events.
• Plan for public holidays: Note the tentative Eid dates and Children’s Day to avoid clashes with study or exams; confirm holiday observances with the school as needed.
• Prepare for certificate and common entrance exams: Primary 6 and JSPE candidates should schedule mock tests and ensure required documents are ready ahead of exam days.
• Report card collection: Arrange to collect report cards on 24 July and follow up promptly on any queries about results or placement.
• Vacation learning: Use part of the 7‑week vacation for light, structured review and skill building (reading, numeracy, online resources) so students return ready for the next session.
