Bayero University Kano (BUK) has released new rules for tricycle (Keke) operations on the New Campus, effective January 9, 2026.

Key rules and fares

  • Fare: ₦100 per trip from the Main Gate to any destination within campus.
  • Passenger limits: Maximum of five (5) passengers per tricycle.
  • Queue limit: Only five (5) TETFund tricycles may queue at Ramat Hall at a time.
  • Minimum passengers from gate: At least three (3) passengers, except in emergencies.
  • Drop trips: Allowed only when no passengers are available, or with a passenger’s consent for a shared ride.
  • Operators must take students to any authorized campus destination and obey traffic/safety rules.

Student guidance

Students were warned against physical or verbal fights with operators. Complaints should be reported through official channels.
