Male undergraduate students in Nigerian higher institutions now have a chance to win cash prizes, mentorship, and a spot at a national conference through the 2026 Chidera Anushiem Essay Competition. The competition is organised by Boys Without Borders Nigeria (BWB NG) in partnership with Writinova and supported by Mr. Chidera Anushiem.
Essay Theme
Participants will write on the topic: "Equality Begins at Home: How Family and Upbringing Shape Attitudes Toward Gender."
The theme invites male undergraduates to reflect on how early life experiences, family dynamics, and cultural expectations influence how young Nigerian men think about gender equality.
Who Can Apply
- Male undergraduate students currently enrolled in any Nigerian higher institution
- Applicants must provide a valid student ID or other identification showing name, photo, and institution
Members of Boys Without Borders Nigeria and its campus networks are not eligible to enter.
Prizes
- 1st Place: ₦70,000
- 2nd Place: ₦50,000
- 3rd Place: ₦30,000
- Top 10 finalists: Receive mentorship
- Top 5: Receive consolation prizes
Selected writers from the top ten will also be invited to a conference where final winners will be chosen.
Submission Rules
- Essay length: 800 to 1,000 words
- Submissions must be original; plagiarised entries will be disqualified
- Do not include your name or school inside the document
- Include only the essay title and word count on the document
