3 min read

Summary

Delta State indigenes can now apply for the 2024/2025 SSAS bursary (₦10,000) and scholarship (up to ₦100,000). Learn eligibility criteria and application steps.

If you're a Delta State indigene studying at any government-approved tertiary institution in Nigeria, the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board has financial support available through the Students Special Assistance Scheme (SSAS). This guide covers everything you need to know about eligibility and how to apply.

Application Deadline

The application window opened on April 15, 2025 and has been extended to Saturday, May 31, 2025. Don't wait until the last minute—technical issues are common during deadline rushes.

Award Amounts

The program offers two types of financial assistance:

  • Bursary Award: ₦10,000 for all selected beneficiaries
  • Scholarship Award: Up to ₦100,000 for outstanding students

Who Can Apply?

To qualify for this bursary, you must meet all of these requirements:

State Origin Requirements

  • Be an indigene of Delta State
  • Have a valid National Identification Number (NIN)

Academic Requirements

  • Be enrolled full-time at a government-approved public or private tertiary institution
  • Maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.20
  • Be in second year or above:
    • Universities: 200-level and above
    • Polytechnics/Monotechnics: ND II or HND II
    • Colleges of Education: NCE II or NCE III

Note: Postgraduate students (PGD, Master's, and PhD) are not eligible for this scheme.

Financial Requirements

You must have an active account with a CBN-approved commercial bank. The bursary will be paid directly to this account, so ensure your account details are accurate.

Step-by-Step Application Process

  1. Visit the official portal at www.dsbsb.dl.gov.ng
  2. Click the "APPLY NOW" button
  3. Complete the online registration form with accurate information
  4. Pay the ₦800 non-refundable processing fee using your debit card
  5. Download and print your online acknowledgement card
  6. Keep your acknowledgement card for physical verification (dates to be announced)

Important Tips for Success

Verify your NIN: Ensure your National Identification Number is active and matches your other credentials exactly.

Use accurate CGPA: The board verifies academic records. Providing false information will disqualify your application.

Double-check bank details: One wrong digit in your account number means payment goes to the wrong person. Verify carefully.

Keep your acknowledgement card: You'll need this for physical verification after the online phase closes.
