FG Warns Against Illegal Charges in Federal Technical Colleges

The Federal Government of Nigeria has issued a strong warning against the collection of unauthorized fees in Federal Technical Colleges (FTCs) across the country. The Education Minister, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, emphasized that no Nigerian child should be denied access to technical education due to illegal charges.

What the Government Covers

The Federal Government fully funds the following for students in Federal Technical Colleges:

• Tuition fees
• Boarding fees
• Uniforms and textbooks
• Exercise books and stationery
• Prospectus and ID cards
• Club activities and medical services
• Vocational training materials
• Utilities and security
• Website/e-results access
• Extra lessons and insurance

Prohibited Practices

Principals and administrators are strictly prohibited from demanding any unauthorized payments from parents or guardians beyond the expenses already covered by the government.
