What Changed for 2026 Admission Planning
JAMB CAPS admission rules matter because a serious admission offer must pass through the official process. The 2026 national minimum scores give candidates a planning threshold, but they do not guarantee admission into a particular course or institution.
A candidate still has to meet the chosen institution's course requirements, O'Level subject requirements, screening conditions, age rule and available-space limits. JAMB says its placement work also considers vacancies, institutional guidelines and the candidate's stated preferences.
Current National Minimum Scores
JAMB's current official website lists these minimum tolerable admission scores approved at the 2026 policy meeting:

The same official notice says that the minimum age for admission into tertiary institutions remains 16 years. These are national minimums. A school, faculty or department can still set a higher score or add screening requirements.
Why the Number Is Not an Admission Letter
Imagine the minimum score as the entrance to the conversation, not the handshake at the end. Scoring 150 may make a university application possible under the national rule, but it does not mean every university will offer a place at 150. Competitive courses may attract much higher scores, and the institution's own screening and O'Level rules still apply.

- Keep your profile code, password, one-time codes and card details private.
Warning Signs Around Admission Offers
- The sender says you do not need JAMB CAPS.
- You are asked to pay into a personal account or send cash to an agent.
- The offered course is different from the course you can verify.
- The message demands your login details or profile code.
- The deadline appears only in a forwarded message, with no matching notice on an official portal.
If a JAMB-related problem remains unresolved, use the official JAMB support ticket portal. For candidate services, use JAMB e-Facility rather than a login link sent by a stranger.
The Simple Planning Rule
Use 150 for a university, 150 for a College of Nursing Sciences, and 100 for the other institution categories listed by JAMB as your first planning reference. Then check the harder questions: Is the course right for your subjects? Does the institution require a higher score? Is your age eligible? Has the offer appeared through the proper channel?
