JAMB Enforces 2025/2026 Admission Deadlines: What Students Must Know
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is enforcing strict admission deadlines for the 2025/2026 academic session, putting pressure on institutions to complete their admission processes on time.
Official Admission Deadlines
Following the Policy Meeting on Admissions held on July 18, 2025, JAMB has set the following deadlines:
- Public Universities: October 31, 2025
- Private Universities: November 30, 2025
- Polytechnics and Colleges of Education: December 31, 2025
CAPS Submission Deadlines
Universities must submit their admission recommendations through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS):
- Public Universities: September 30, 2025
- Private Universities: October 31, 2025
Institutions Yet to Submit
Eight public institutions have not submitted their admissions despite the passed deadline, including Northwest University Kano, Nigerian Defence Academy Kaduna, and Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences Funtua.
What Happens to Unprocessed Candidates?
JAMB has warned that candidates whose institutions fail to process their admissions will be "moved automatically to the next available tier." This means affected students could be redirected to other institutions.
Action Steps for Students
- Check your admission status regularly on the JAMB portal
- Contact your institution's admission office if you haven't received updates
- Monitor CAPS for any changes to your admission status
- Be prepared to accept alternative institution placements if necessary
Students are advised to stay proactive and maintain communication with their prospective institutions to ensure their admissions are processed before the deadlines.
