According to the JAMB UTME syllabus, it is expected that candidates who are sitting for English language are able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English as well as have a sound linguistic basis for learning at the tertiary level. As you probably already know, English language is a compulsory subject for all UTME candidates. So, all UTME candidates will be answering English questions in their exam.

The subject is quite broad and you can see the UTME syllabus here

However, here are a few tutorials that students might find helpful:

English Lexis and Comprehension for UTME

Topics explored difficult spellings, a discussion of some major reasons why students spell wrongly, and questions from the UTME novel, “In Dependence”.

English Structure for UTME

Topics explored include adjectival order, the three categories of concord, intensifiers, pronouns and pronominal cases, quantifiers, question tags, and operations of tense.

English Test of Orals for UTME

Topics explored include consonant sound, voiced and voiced consonant sounds, vowel sounds, monophthongs, diphthongs, stress and emphatic stress.

These tutorials do not cover all the topics indicated in the UTME syllabus but we hope they prove helpful.

All the best!
