While in the hall, please take note of everything;

Earlier: Benefits of Taking JAMB’s Mock Examination
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, in an attempt to improve the performance of candidates in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, introduced the mock UTME. The mock examination is the pre-examination test organised by the board that candidates take before sitting for the actual exam.
The board stated in this week’s issue of its weekly bulletin that the main purpose of the mock examination is to “enable candidates to assess their level of preparation and acquaint themselves with the computer-based test environment.”
The mock examination was introduced in 2017 to give all candidates an opportunity to have a hands-on experience with the system, especially for those not conversant with the use of computers.
The board stated that it sees the mock examination as an effective form of preparation for UTME, it says the exam has helped alleviate test anxiety, helps candidates identify problem areas, and it reassures them of their academic progress by erasing examination phobia.
The board said, “there is no better way to study than to test what one already knows.” The mock exam provides candidates with the confidence they need to be as stress-free as possible on the day of the actual text.
Earlier From Previous UTME: Tips for Writing UTME With JAMB’s New Technology
A new technology has been introduced by JAMB and candidates who wrote the Mock exam have gotten a taste of it. You can now use both the Computer Keyboard and the Mouse (or track-pad for laptops) while writing your exam.
1. Using the Keyboard
If you are using the keyboard, here are the most important keys:
- N – To move to the next question
- P – To go back to the previous question
- A – To select option A on a question
- B – To select option B on a question
- C – To select option C on a question
- D – To select option D on a question
- S – To submit your exam (Be Careful with this key)
- R – To Cancel Submit (and RETURN)
Please read the instructions properly before starting your exam because all the above will still be stated before you start the exam. Please note however, that there are some things that the Keyboard method does not offer you. In this case, you must use your Mouse (or track-pad). Some of these things include:
- Switching from one subject to another. If you want to answer a particular subject before going to another, you would need to use the mouse to select a subject.
- Using the on-screen calculator at the top right corner of your screen. If you want to use the calculator, you will also need to select it with your mouse.
2. Questions Format
There will be 180 questions: 60 for English, 40 for each of the other subjects.
Use of English will now contain 1 comprehension passage (with about 6 questions) and about 8 to 10 questions from the Newly introduced Novel “In Dependence”. According to reports from candidates that wrote the Mock exam, the questions from the Novel are deep and are different from any questions you have seen online, so try to read the book properly. The time stated for the exam is 120 Minutes (2 hours).
3. Hanging Screens
This is an important tip to note. Press F5 if your screen hangs.
Candidates also complained about hanging of the JAMB CBT interface while taking the exam. According to some other reports from candidates, you won’t be able to click on anything, but your TIME will be counting down. The solutions that worked was pressing F5 on the keyboard. You will see this key at the top keys of the keyboard. If you don’t know how to do this during the exam, please call the attention of the examiner. Don’t be afraid to do this.
We wish everyone best of luck in the UTME.
