140 was approved as the national minimum cut-off mark for admission into public universities. 100 was decided for Polytechnics and Colleges of Education. However, the institutions are at liberty to decide individual cut-off marks but no institution will be allowed to admit any candidate who scores below the the stipulated benchmark.

The meeting had in attendance the Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, vice-chancellors, rectors and registrars of higher institutions and other stakeholders.
