The National Universities Commission (NUC) Executive Secretary, Prof. Julius Okojie, has revealed that just 400,000 out of the over 1.5 million candidates that sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) yearly secure admission each year.
He announced this during the collection of the Certificate of Recognition for the newly established Edo State University by the Governor of the state, Adams Oshiomhole.
He also mentioned that the establishment of more institutions will help absorb more candidates yearly.
The Edo State University which he also made mention of, is now the 41st state university and the 142nd university in Nigeria.
