Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) announces public holidays for Christmas and New Year celebrations. The university will observe official closures on December 25-26, 2025 and January 1, 2026.

Holiday Schedule

Christmas Period

• December 25, 2025 (Thursday): Christmas Day
• December 26, 2025 (Friday): Boxing Day

New Year Period

• January 1, 2026 (Thursday): New Year's Day

Resumption Dates

After Christmas: Monday, December 29, 2025 at 8:00 a.m.
After New Year: Friday, January 2, 2026

Office Closure

All university offices will remain closed on the declared public holidays. Staff must ensure:

• All electrical appliances are switched off before leaving
• Offices are properly secured
• Work stations are organized for holiday closure

Essential Services

The following personnel must remain on duty throughout the holiday period:

• Security Unit: Maintain campus surveillance and protection
• Health Services: Provide emergency medical coverage
• University Farms: Continue essential agricultural operations
• Power/Electricity Supply: Maintain electrical infrastructure

Security Operations

The Security Unit is specifically tasked with maintaining surveillance across the university campus during the holiday period to ensure safety and protection of university property.

General Staff

• Resume work on December 29 (after Christmas) and January 2 (after New Year)
• Switch off all electrical appliances before leaving

Essential Services Personnel

• Report for duty as scheduled during holidays
• Security, health, farms, and power staff must maintain operations
