NANS Issues 7-Day Ultimatum to UNN Over Fee Hike

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), South East Zone F, has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) over recent fee increases.

NANS said the reported hike exceeds 100%, citing acceptance fees rising to ₦50,000 and tuition increasing from about ₦122,000 to ₦243,900, excluding accommodation and other costs.

Key demands

• Immediate reversal of the fee increases.
• Inclusive dialogue between university management and students.
• Improved student welfare across UNN and UNEC campuses.

NANS said the ultimatum expires on January 16, 2026. It warned that failure to meet the demands would lead to protests and possible shutdown of academic and administrative activities. Students were advised to pause further fee payments pending resolution.
