NECO 2025 GCE Registration Now Open: Deadline November 18, Late Fee ₦35,000

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially opened registration for the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External, also known as GCE. If you missed the June/July NECO or need to upgrade your O'Level results, here's everything you need to know about registering for the November/December GCE.

Registration Period

• Regular Registration: July 7 - November 18, 2025 (midnight)
• Late Registration: November 19-25, 2025 (additional ₦5,000 penalty)

Examination Period

Exam Dates: November 26 - December 13, 2025

Registration Fees

• Regular Fee: ₦30,000 (includes mathematical table and certificate folder)
• Late Registration: ₦35,000 (₦30,000 + ₦5,000 penalty)

Exam Format

Computer-Based Examination (CBE) for all sixteen subjects

Required Documents

National Identification Number (NIN)

Mandatory: You must provide a valid NIN to register. If you don't have one:

1. Visit NIMC enrollment center
2. Complete NIN registration
3. Obtain your NIN before attempting NECO registration

Passport Photograph

• Background: White background only
• Recency: Not older than six months
• Format: Professional passport-style photo
• Size: Standard passport size

Biometric Registration

Critical Security Measure: Biometric fingerprints will be captured during offline registration and verified during the actual examination.

Warning: Mismatched fingerprints result in automatic disqualification. This means:

• You must register personally (no proxy registration)
• The person registered must be the one writing the exam
• Exam malpractice through impersonation is impossible

How to Register

1. Visit NECO official website: www.neco.gov.ng
2. Click "GCE Registration" or "External SSCE Registration"
3. Create registration account or log in
4. Fill in personal information (name, DOB, gender, state)
5. Provide your NIN (National Identification Number)
6. Select your subjects (minimum 5, maximum 9)
7. Upload passport photograph (white background, recent)
8. Choose examination center preferences
9. Pay ₦30,000 registration fee online
10. Submit registration
11. Print registration slip
12. Visit designated center for biometric capture

Private Candidates

• Not currently in SS3
• Already graduated secondary school
• Need O'Level results for admission, employment, or travel

Result Upgrade Candidates

• Wrote June/July NECO but failed some subjects
