NECO Extends 2026 BECE Registration Deadline to April 4

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has extended the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) registration deadline. The extension was approved to accommodate newly accredited BECE schools that need time to register their candidates.

Updated Deadlines

• Extended Registration Deadline: Saturday, April 4, 2026, at midnight
• Late Registration Fee: ₦5,000 per candidate
• Website Final Closure: Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 11:59 PM

No further extensions will be granted beyond April 8, 2026.

Who Is Affected

This extension applies to both established and newly accredited BECE schools. School principals and state coordinators are urged to complete candidate registration before the extended deadline.

What Schools Should Do

1. Register all candidates on the NECO portal before April 4
2. Note the ₦5,000 late registration fee applies per candidate
3. Ensure all registrations are finalised before the absolute closure on April 8
