NUC Orders Universities to Remain Closed Despite Suspension of ASUU Strike

The National University Commission (NUC) has ordered all universities in the country to remain closed despite the suspension of the 9-months strike action of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The commission gave the order amidst the increasing cases of the coronavirus in the country.

The directives which were contained in a circular signed by the executive secretary of the agency, Chris Maiyaki, instructs vice-chancellors of universities that classrooms, hostel accommodation, conferences and seminars are to be put on hold.

It also directs universities to remain closed and await further instructions.
