  • The Nigerian University Commission (NUC) is advocating a compulsory study of entrepreneurial course in the nation’s tertiary institutions.

The commission is making the suggestion in consideration of the present predicament of the nation’s economy and the need to stimulate the economy and make it grow faster.

At a meeting with the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, on Friday in Asaba, the capital of the state, the Executive Secretary of the NUC, Professor Julius Okojie, said that students in tertiary institutions needed entrepreneurial knowledge and skills that would encourage self-employment, wealth creation and economic independence.

Professor Okojie was represented by the Director of Student Support Services, Dr. Rukayyatu Gurin at the meeting.

She also told the governor that if made a core course in the universities it would instil in the students, entrepreneurial and wealth creation skills, confidence and self-reliance to become employers of labour.
