Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has released important information regarding the NELFUND Student Loan application process for newly admitted students.

Eligibility & Requirements

Both returning and newly admitted students can apply for the NELFund Loan. However, newly admitted freshers must first receive their matriculation numbers before beginning the application process.

Loan Components

The NELFund Student Loan consists of two parts:

  1. Upkeep Allowance: ₦20,000 monthly, paid directly to the student's account. Only students who request this component during application will receive it.
  2. School Charges: Paid directly to the university for tuition settlement. If students pre-pay their charges, the university will refund the difference once NELFund disburses.

Important Timeline Note

"The NELFUND Student Loan application process takes some time before payments are received," per the official notice.

Provisional Payment Requirement

While awaiting NELFund disbursement, newly admitted students must pay 50% of their approved school charges to begin course registration. This amount will be refunded once the full NELFund payment reaches the university.
