The Federal Republic of Nigeria celebrated her independence from Great Britain on the 1st of October, 1960. Two days ago marked Nigeria’s 55th Independence Anniversary and in all parts of the country, there was a lot of celebration.
While President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Yemi Osinbajo, played host to dignitaries at a low budget ceremony at the Aso Villa, other Nigerians celebrated the Anniversary in their states, and the students of the Obafemi Awolowo University(OAU), Ile-Ife, were not left out.
In what could be best described as a dramatized mock-ceremony, the students filed out in white and green apparel and put up a comical dance.
Looking more like members of the Cherubim and Seraphim movement in their white gowns and green waist sashes, they had their own towering and stern-looking President Buhari and his smaller bodied 2nd in command.
It was hilarious.
