OOU Orientation and Matriculation: January 6-8, 2026 for Fresh Students

Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) has announced new dates for its orientation programme and matriculation ceremony for newly admitted students of the 2025/2026 academic session. The events will hold from January 6-8, 2026 at the Main Campus, Ago-Iwoye.

Academic Gown Payment (MANDATORY)

All fresh students must complete the following steps to participate in the matriculation ceremony:

1. Make Payment: Pay ₦2,500 via OOU Payment Portal
2. Collect Gown: After payment, collect your academic gown from your respective College or Faculty office
3. Attend in Full Regalia: Wear complete matriculation regalia on January 8, 2026

Attendance Requirements

• Mandatory Attendance: All fresh students MUST attend both the orientation programme and matriculation ceremony
• Arrival Time (Orientation): Be seated by 8:00 a.m. on January 6-7
• Arrival Time (Matriculation): Arrive by 9:00 a.m. on January 8 (ceremony starts 11:00 a.m.)
• Dress Code: Full matriculation regalia (academic gown) on January 8

Ceremony Details

The matriculation ceremony will be presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ayodeji Agboola, with:

• Principal officers of the university in attendance
• Deans presenting students from their faculties
• Formal oath-taking exercise for all matriculants
• Official induction into the university community

What to Expect at Orientation (January 6-7)

During the two-day orientation programme, fresh students will:

• Receive introduction to university life and academic expectations
• Learn about available student services and facilities
• Meet faculty members and departmental advisors
• Understand university rules, regulations, and code of conduct

• Network with fellow new students
• Tour the campus and key facilities

• Payment Deadline: Complete gown payment early to avoid last-minute rush
• No Gown, No Entry: You must wear your academic gown to participate in the matriculation ceremony

Background: Why the New Dates

The orientation programme was originally scheduled for December 1-5, 2025, but was postponed in November to ensure a better organized and enriching experience for all participants. The new January dates allow for proper preparation and coordination of all aspects of the programme.
