PLASU Senate Finalizes New Dates for 8th and 9th Convocation Ceremonies

Plateau State University (PLASU), Bokkos has officially rescheduled its combined 8th and 9th convocation ceremony to January 30-31, 2026. The event was originally planned for November 28-29, 2025 but was postponed following discussions at the university's 97th regular Senate meeting.

The 2025/2026 academic session includes several key milestones:

• First semester commenced: September 29, 2025
• New student registration began: October 6, 2025
• Normal registration closure: October 13, 2025
• Fresh student orientation: November 4-6, 2025
• Matriculation ceremony: November 7, 2025

Classes were set to commence fully on October 27, 2025, after an ASUU warning strike delayed the original schedule.

Administrative Priorities

The university administration, under Vice-Chancellor Professor Shedrack Best, emphasized urgency regarding result uploads. Faculty must complete and submit student transcripts (levels 200-400) within two weeks, ahead of a National Universities Commission accreditation visit scheduled for November 2, 2025.
