PWASI 2026: Ghana Scholarships for ECOWAS Students

The Government of Ghana has announced the Presidential West African Scholarship Initiative (PWASI) for the 2026/2027 academic year. The programme covers full-time, on-campus undergraduate and postgraduate study at participating public tertiary institutions in Ghana.

Who is eligible?

The official notice is for citizens of ECOWAS member states other than Ghana, including Nigerian students who meet the admission, academic, leadership and immigration requirements. Nigeria is listed with a quota of three nominees.

Priority fields

Priority areas include science and technology, engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, health, agriculture, business, governance, climate and environmental studies.

What applicants need

Applicants must first apply for a full-time on-campus programme at a participating Ghanaian public institution and provide either a conditional offer or an acknowledgement that the admission application was submitted and the required institutional fee paid. The official notice then describes submission through the Ghana Scholarships Authority process and national nomination.
