TASU Students Protest Extension of Exams

Students of Taraba State University (TASU) on Tuesday, January 10, barricaded some of the major entry points into the city in demand for the payment of 10-month salary arrears owed to staff of the university by the Taraba State government.

The students who were unable to continue with their semester examination scheduled to commence on Monday, January 9, marched to the office of the vice-chancellor to air their grievances, but could not find him on seat, and thereby proceeded to block the Jalingo-Bali federal highway in protest.

It was gathered that the school had announced January 9 for the continuation of the exams but students were stranded after arriving at their exam venues and met the halls locked by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Non-Academic Staff Union, and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities as a result of the non-payment of the entitlements.
