NUC Approves Postgraduate Programmes for University of Africa, Toru-Orua

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval to the University of Africa, Toru-Orua (UAT) in Bayelsa State to offer postgraduate programmes starting from the 2025/2026 academic session.

Approved Programmes

The approval covers full-time offerings at PGD, Master's, and PhD levels in the following disciplines:

• Accounting
• Biology
• Business Administration
• Biochemistry
• Educational Management
• Mass Communication
• Computer Science
• Political Science
• Theatre and Film Studies

Important Requirements

The NUC has stipulated several conditions for the University:

• Maintain approved titles and nomenclature for all courses
• Provide sustained human and material resources
• Secure separate NUC approval before introducing part-time variants
• Obtain Commission authorization before any curriculum or title modifications

Key Restriction

The current approval applies exclusively to full-time delivery modes. Part-time programmes will require a separate approval process.
