UNIABUJA Appoints Malam Mohammed Sambo as Acting Registrar

The University of Abuja has appointed Malam Mohammed Sambo as the Acting Registrar of the institution. The appointment was approved by the 11th Governing Council led by Distinguished Senator Dr. Olanrewaju Tejuoso.

Qualifications and Experience

Malam Mohammed Sambo brings over three decades of administrative experience to this role. His qualifications include:

• B.A. (Hons) in Public Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1985-1988)
• Master of Public Administration from the University of Abuja (2010-2016)

Previous Positions

Sambo has held several distinguished positions including:

• Deputy Registrar, Council Division (most recent)
• Deputy Director of Administration at the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (2012-2014)
• General Manager, Human Resources Management at NiMET (September 2017 - February 2022)
• Various positions at Maritime Academy of Nigeria and banking institutions

Vice-Chancellor's Statement

Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Mathew Adamu characterized the appointment as "a welcome development that would help consolidate administrative efficiency." He urged Sambo to maintain "professionalism, integrity, and teamwork" in his new role.

Professor Adamu also commended the outgoing acting registrar, Mrs. Roseline Adakayi, for her "good work" in stabilizing the administrative system.
