UNIABUJA Appoints Prof. Hakeem Fawehinmi as New Vice-Chancellor

The University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) Governing Council has announced the appointment of Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi as the institution’s new Vice-Chancellor. He will assume office on February 10, 2026, for a non-renewable five-year term.

About Prof. Fawehinmi

Professor Fawehinmi is a distinguished academic in Clinical Anatomy and Biomedical Anthropology. His extensive career in university administration includes:

• Head of Department, Anatomy: Two terms (2005-2009)
• Associate Dean: 2010-2012
• Dean, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences: 2012-2014
• Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic): Two terms (2016-2020)
