The 11th Governing Council of the University of Abuja (now Yakubu Gowon University) has approved the promotion of 104 academic staff members to professorial ranks. The approval came during the 78th Extraordinary Meeting held September 9-10, 2025, chaired by Distinguished Senator Dr Olanrewaju Tejuoso.

Vice-Chancellor's Statement
Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Mathew Adamu (FCVSN) noted that this represents the highest number of promotions in the university's history.
