UNIABUJA Sandwich Degree Programs: Application Deadline Extended to May 30

The University of Abuja Institute of Education has extended its undergraduate Sandwich degree application deadline to May 30, 2025.

The program offers 19 education degree options designed for working teachers seeking to upgrade their qualifications.

Available Programs

UNIABUJA offers education degrees across sciences, arts, and specialized education fields.

Science Education: BSc (Ed) in Agricultural Science, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Geography, Integrated Science, Mathematics, and Physics.

Arts Education: BA (Ed) in Arabic, Christian Religious Studies, English Language, History, and Islamic Studies.

Professional Education: BEd in Educational Administration and Planning, Guidance and Counselling, Primary Education, and Social Studies. Additionally, BSc (Ed) Library and Information Science.

Admission Requirements

Entry-level admission (100-level) requires five O'Level credits including English Language and Mathematics from WAEC, NECO, or equivalent examinations.

NCE holders qualify for direct entry to 200-level. You must possess minimum 10 points (merit level) from your NCE program plus the standard five O'Level credits.

This NCE pathway allows experienced teachers to earn bachelor's degrees in shorter time by receiving credit for previous teacher training.

Sandwich Program Structure

Sandwich programs deliver intensive instruction during long vacation periods, typically July through September. This schedule allows employed teachers to study without leaving their jobs during school terms.

Students return to campus each vacation for coursework, examinations, and practical teaching assessments until degree completion. The structure accommodates professional responsibilities while enabling academic advancement.

Complete all form sections accurately. Upload clear copies of your NCE certificate (if applicable), O'Level results, and identification documents.

Why Upgrade from NCE to Degree

Bachelor's degrees open opportunities unavailable to NCE holders. Many states require degree qualifications for principal positions and administrative roles in education.

Salary scales typically improve with degree qualifications. Teachers with bachelor's degrees earn higher compensation than NCE holders in equivalent positions.
