The University of Lagos achieved a historic milestone during its 55th Convocation Ceremony by producing 18 all-female first-class graduates from the Department of Mass Communication for the 2023/2024 academic session.
Graduate Cohort
The distinguished graduates are: Feranmi Abiola, Ahuruele Akani, Oyindamola Arikawe, Ifedayo Ayilaran, Demiladeogo Bankole, Olaide Bankole, Eniola Daramola, Faith Enang, Temiloluwa Igbinlade, Joy Imanah, Ifeoma Iwelunmor, Chelsea Jegede, Opeyemi Kareem, Eunice Obidi, Frances Odogu, Mofesola Olanrewaju, Funmilola Onabanjo, and Peace Onuoha.
Convocation Statistics
During the convocation ceremony, a total of 16,590 students graduated across the university. Among these, 9,865 received first degrees and diplomas, while 6,659 earned postgraduate degrees. Additionally, the UNILAG Business School (ULBS) graduated 66 students.
Recognition of Excellence
The graduates' achievements reflect their "hard work, resilience, and dedication." Several graduates, including Peace Onuoha and Temiloluwa Igbinlade, shared personal narratives demonstrating how they overcame academic challenges through determination, discipline, and effective time management strategies.

- Christian Uwagwu achieved the highest CGPA (4.78) in the Faculty of Education
- Ibrahim Sefiu obtained the highest CGPA (4.82) in the Faculty of Social Sciences
Infrastructure Development
Vice-Chancellor Folasade Ogunsola highlighted the university's "advancements in academic and infrastructural achievements," particularly noting the establishment of the MED-AFRICA GMP Laboratory—a facility supporting advanced HIV prevention research within the Faculty of Pharmacy.
