UNIMAID Appoints New Deputy Vice Chancellors for 2025

The Governing Council of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) has approved the appointment of two new Deputy Vice-Chancellors to lead key administrative and academic functions.

New Appointments

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Central Administration)

Professor Babagana Bako from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology has been appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Central Administration).

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Services)

Professor Mohammed Ahmed Waziri from the Department of Veterinary Surgery and Theriogenology has been appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Services).

Appointment Details

• Effective Date: September 18, 2025
• Tenure: Two years
• Legal Framework: Section 4(1)-4(5) of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Decree No. 11 of 1993

Appointment Process

The appointments were made on the recommendation of the Vice-Chancellor and with the approval of the University Senate. The official letters were conveyed by the Registrar, Ahmed Alhaji Lawan.
