Keyboard shortcuts and controls

If you use the keyboard during the CBT, these keys are commonly provided — read your on‑screen instructions before you start because the exact keys will be shown again:

• N – Next question
• P – Previous question
• A, B, C, D – Select option
• S – Submit exam (use with caution)
• R – Cancel submit / return
• Y – Confirm submit (yes)

Some actions must be done with the mouse or trackpad, for example switching between subjects and using the on‑screen calculator (available for calculation subjects). Practise both keyboard and mouse navigation ahead of the test so nothing slows you down.

Avoid shortcuts and scams

Ignore offers that promise guaranteed scores or “runs.” With modern CBT controls and monitoring, such shortcuts are unreliable and risky. The surest path to a good score is focused revision, discipline and exam technique.

Randomised question sets

Questions and their order are usually randomized between candidates. Never copy answers from a neighbour — you may be answering different items. Trust your knowledge and use your time to work through your own paper.

Day‑of‑exam checklist

• Wake up on time: Set multiple alarms and ask a family member to wake you if you’re worried about oversleeping.
• Know your centre: If you haven’t visited your exam centre before, go and locate it ahead of time so you don’t get lost on the day.
• Arrive early: Aim to be at the venue at least 30 minutes before your session to complete registration and biometric checks calmly.
• Hydration: Drink a little water. Avoid excess fluid intake right before the exam to reduce toilet breaks during the test.
• Check prohibited items: Do not bring phones, smart devices, notes or any banned items into the exam hall. For official guidance, consult the JAMB website.

At the exam centre and in the exam room

• Biometric verification: Ensure your biometric verification is completed before the test starts. If verification is not done, notify staff immediately.
• Seat and posture: Sit comfortably. Small posture adjustments (breathing, sitting upright) help reduce anxiety and improve focus.
• Read instructions: Carefully read all on‑screen and printed instructions before starting.
• Answer strategy: Start with the subject or questions you are strongest in to build confidence. Flag harder questions and return to them later.
• Time management: Work steadily; don’t spend too long on any single question. Use your review time to revisit flagged items.
• Answer every question: If you’re unsure, make an educated guess rather than leaving it blank.

After the exam

Stay calm and avoid spreading or relying on unofficial answer lists circulating online or in groups. Focus on preparing for the next steps—result checking and any further admissions processes—using official channels.
