Bowen University, Iwo hereby wishes to invite applications from all suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Postgraduate Programmes for the 2015/2016 academic session leading to the award of Master of Science (M.Sc) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees of the University in various areas of specialization in the following programmes:

B. GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

1. MSc Programme

(a) All candidates are required to possess a Bachelor’s degree obtained from a University approved by Senate and with a grade of not less than Second Class Lower Division.
(b) A candidate with less than Second Class Lower Division or a Postgraduate Diploma with a minimum of upper credit in a relevant field from a recognised University may be considered provided he/she scores a minimum of 55% in a qualifying examination to be conducted by the Department.
(c ) In addition to 1(a) and 1(b) above, candidates must satisfy the Ordinary Level requirement of five subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics and any other three subjects as may be specified for the programme of choice .
2. Ph.D Programme

(a) To be eligible, a candidate must have a relevant Master’s Degree or equivalent from a University approved by Senate and a minimum of weighted average score of 60%.
(b) In special cases, a Department may require additional conditions including an interview

C. APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

(b) By Hand/Post

Application Form may be obtained by hand/post from the Secretary, Postgraduate School, Bowen University, Iwo Osun State upon the presentation of a non-refundable Application Fee of N10,000.00 only in bank draft payable to Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State.

Candidate must indicate their Names and Addresses at the back of the Bank Draft. Each request for application form must be accompanied by a N50.00 (fifty naira) stamp and self-addressed
envelope.

D. SUBMISSION

(a) All candidates are to submit the completed Application Form with the required documents listed below.

(i) Photocopies of O’Level Certificate(s)

(ii) Bachelor’s Degree Certificate
(iii) NYSC Certificate of National Service or Exemption Certificate (where applicable)
(iv) Master’s Degree Certificate (for PhD applicants)
(v) Marriage Certificate or evidence of change of name (where applicable)
(vi) Five (5) recent passport photographs

(vii) Photocopy of the Bowen University payment receipt for Application Form

(viii) Yellow Acknowledgement card/ profile entry printed on-line for download application form

(b) Submit the downloaded Application Form with the non-refundable Application Fee of N10, 000.00 only in bank draft (drawn from any commercial bank) payable to Bowen to University, Iwo, Osun State.

(c) Academic Transcript

E. REFEREE’S REPORTS

(i) Download or collect by hand/post the three Referees’ Confidential Reports Form for the Referees to complete. At least one of the Referees must be the Head or a Senior member of the Department where the candidate obtained his/her degree.

(ii) Completed Referees report should be sent under confidential cover directly to: The Dean, Postgraduate School, Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State.

F. CLOSING DATE

Completed applications forms whether on-line or otherwise, must be submitted not later than Friday 11th September, 2015.

BOWEN University 2015/2016 Application Into Weekend Degree Programmes

Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into BOWEN UNIVERSITY Weekend Full Time Undergraduate degree programmes for the 2015/2016 academic session.

The programme will run for 3 – 5 years depending on the mode of entry and entry qualifications.

(A) GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

(i) All applicants are required to have credits at SSCE, GCE, NECO, NABTEB or approved equivalents in, at least, 5 subjects which must include English Language and four other subjects as may be specified by each Faculty.
(ii) The five credits should be obtained in not more than two sittings.
(iii) Candidates awaiting results may apply, provided such result would be available before resumption.
(iv) All applicants will be required to go through the Bowen University’s Screening Exercise.

(B) DIRECT ENTRY

All applicants for direct entry must satisfy any of the following:
(a) NCE at credit level, ND and approved equivalents with at least Lower Credit in relevant fields.
(b) At least two Advanced Level passes
(c) The Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB), Joint Universities Preliminary Examination
Board (JUPEB) or Cambridge Moderated School of Basic Studies at acceptable grade levels.
(d) In addition to the NCE/ND/IJMB/JUPEB or two Advanced Level papers to be specified by
the Faculty or programme, candidates must also satisfy Ordinary Level requirements.
(e) HND holders may be admitted into 200 or 300 Level depending on the regulation guiding
admission into each department / programme
(f) Professionals and people in working class will be given preference.

(C ) MODE OF APPLICATION

(a) On-Line Application
To complete the application form on-line:
i. Visit Bowen University website @ www.bowenuniversity.edu.ng to create an identity using the undergraduate application submenu located under the Portal menu.
ii. After pre-registration, pay a sum of Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000.00) only as application form fee using your ATM Cards/Quick teller options at any bank of your choice.
iii. Upon confirmation of payment, use your unique identity to complete and submit the e-application form via the Bowen University website

(D) SCREENING OF CANDIDATES

(i) All applicants are to appear for Bowen University Screening Exercise to be conducted by the University on Saturday, 5th September, 2015 at the Iwo and Osogbo centres.
(ii) The screening of candidates will start at 10.00am.

(E) COMMENCEMENT

The programmes commence on the 14th September, 2015.
