The Management of Ekiti State University (EKSU) has reduced the fees charged for the second screening of candidates seeking admission into the university for the 2016/2017 academic session to Two thousand five hundred naira only (N2, 500). It was formerly Five thousand naira only (N5, 000).

According to the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Samuel Oye Bandele, the university considered the economic situation in the country particularly that of parents, guardians as well as the prospective candidates before arriving at the decision.

He further stated that the management of the institution also consulted widely with stakeholders including students and decided that though the university was in dire need of funds to run and administer the physical appearance screening of the candidates, the economic situation in the country played a vital role in arriving at the decision.

Responding to this, the Students Union of the university and the National Association of Students (NANS), Ekiti axis applauded the management’s decision; stating that the management’s decision was acceptable to all and sundry and commended the Vice-Chancellor for his open door administration, transparency and moral uprightness, stating that he, as a Pastor is widely acclaimed to have zero tolerance for corruption.
