JAMB Revenue 2018 – Board Generates Up To N8.5 billion From Sales of 2018 UTME / DE Forms:
According to media reports, a top official of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed that the board has generated up to N8.453 billion from the sales of forms in 2018.
This revenue came from payments made by 1,602,762 candidates who registered for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) held across the country in March and from registration fees paid by 135,670.00 Direct Entry (DE) candidates.
At the moment, it is not certain how much JAMB will be remmiting to the coffers of the Federal Government. But According to the source, it will be close to last years figure which was N7.8 billion.
According to the source, since the arrival of Prof. Is-haq Oloyede as registrar, JAMB had ceased to request funding from the federal government for its capital and recurrent expenditures.
When contacted Prof. Oleyede confirmed this but refused to make any further comments on it. Dr Fabian Benjamin also confirmed the information. Nevertheless, he stated that since JAMB direct entry registration and JAMB Change of Course and institution are still on and with that, the JAMB revenue is likely going to be more that it is at the moment.
2018 UTME: Over 1 Billion Naira Has Been Paid to CBT Owners According to JAMB Official
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has disclosed that it has paid about N1bn to owners of Computer-Based Test centres nationwide for the services they rendered in the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
According to JAMB’s Head of Media and Information, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the payment was in compliance with the agreement reached with the CBT centres. This he said will help in sustaining the cordial working relationship with stakeholders that participate in the conduct of its annual examinations.
He however mentioned that centres that could not live up to their responsibilities due to technical issues which warranted the candidates being relocated to other centres will not be paid as the board could not afford to pay twice for the same purpose.
He equally mentioned that centres found to have colluded with some candidates to cheat during the exam as captured by the CCTV camera will not also be paid.
He stated that candidates that innocently found themselves in centres that colluded with candidates to cheat will be singled out and will re-take the exam with other candidates that had biometric and other related issues that are no fault of theirs during the exam.
He added that the board has already embarked on a mop-up exercise for such candidates.
