Kano State Govt is Giving N300m Worth of Scholarship To Students

The Kano State government has earmarked over N300 million for indigenous students to study selected courses within and outside the country.

In a weekly briefing held at the council chamber, Government House, Kano, and delivered by the state commissioner of Information, Comrade Muhammad Garba, it stated that this is in line with Governor Ganduje’s pledge of continuing with programmes the past government started.

The commissioner explained that N48 million has been approved for 217 students’ return ticket from India to Nigeria and $1000 allowance to each student.

He also added that N275 million was earmarked as tuition and accommodation fees for female nurses who are in their second year.

Muhammad expressed dismay over media reports and insinuations among the general public that the present government is not forthcoming in payment of these scholarships.

Garba disclosed that at the last council meeting they approved for the establishment of Single Revenue Account where each revenue accrued should and must be deposited into.

They also approved for the disbursement of over N2 million to support orphans for the Eid ceremony and over N10 million for the procurement of empowerment package for trained youths. More money was also approved for the graduation of students from Kiru Rehabilitation Centres.
