Kwararafa University, Wukari (KUW) runs Remedial and Foundation Studies programmes which will qualify successful candidates for consideration for admission into the main degree programmes at 100 level for Remedial and 200 Level for Foundation.

DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES

The University also offers the following sub-degree programmes:

1. Public Administration
2. Accounting and Taxation Management
3. Mass Communication
4. Information Technologies
5. Marketing
6. Social Works and Community Development.
7. Professional Diploma in Education (PGDE)
8. Justice Administration and Para Legal Studies
9. Security and Intelligence Studies
10. Procurement and Logistics Management.

FIRST DEGREE MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

i) Five relevant Credits in SSCE, GCE, O/L or TC Merit or equivalent obtained at not more than two sittings.
ii) Two A/L passes plus three O/L credits in 3 other subjects at not more than 2 sittings; two passes at TC II plus NCE merit passes, including major subject and Education.
iii) National or accredited University/Polytechnic Diploma with merit or lower Credit grade, including at least four O/L credits in SSCE/GCE or equivalent.
iv) Transfer candidates in classified degree programmes should have minimum CGPA of 1.50
v) Candidates must have sat for the Universities Matriculation Exams and for Direct Entry Candidates, they must have purchased the UME forms in addition to the relevant qualifications.

DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES

Candidates must have at least three (3) relevant credits in SSCE or GCE O/L at not more than two sittings, or Teachers’ Grade II Certificate. Candidates will be expected to fulfill matriculation (D.E) requirements of JAMB.

REMEDIAL PROGRAMMES

Candidates must have at least three (3) relevant credits in SSCE or O/L GCE at not more than two sittings or Teachers’ Grade Certificated.

DURATION OF PROGRAMMES

a) Degree – Four (4) years or three (3) years for Direct Entry (D.E).
b) Diploma – Two (2) years.
c) Foundation/Remedial Programme – One (1) year

University Colors

The University Official Colours are Green and Gold. The Green Colour represents agriculture, productivity, fertility, growth and steady progress while the Gold Colour represents the rich cultural heritage of the people and abundance of natural resources.

In the Logo, the spear head “Atoshi” is the traditional weapon of the Jukun people (host community of the University) and its relationship with the open Book also in the Logo symbolizes that knowledge derived from the university will play a crucial role in the management /resolution of crises, and in the fight against ignorance, poverty and disease.

Our History

Kwararafa University Wukari, was licensed as Wukari Jubilee by the National Universities Commission in 2005. It took off in March, 2006 with 61 students as the first and only community owned University in Nigeria, the first University in Taraba State and the second private University in the North East Geopolitical zone of Nigeria.

Located at Wukari an ancient city that was for a while the headquarters of the historically famous Kwararafa Confederacy, the University officially changed its name from Wukari Jubilee to Kwararafa in Febuary 2012 to reflect the cultural and historical roots of the confederacy which at the zenith of its powers extended to modern Niger, Plateau, Kogi, Nasarawa and Benue states and FCT in the north central geo-political zone, Edo and Cross River in the South-south zone, Kogi Kaduna, Kano and Katsina states in the north west zone and Bauchi, Gombe, and Adamawa States in the north east zone.

Kwararafa University enjoys cordial relations with its host community and attracts students from Taraba and 22 other states of the Federation.

In addition to the school fees, all new and returning students are expected to pay for an Interactive Learning Tablet (ILT). The ILT costs =N=34,500.00 (thirty four thousand five hundred naira) only.

Students can pay an initial =N=20,000.00 (twenty thousand naira) to own one while the balance of =N=15,000.00 (fifteen thousand naira) is to be paid by the beginning of the second semester.
