About the National Film Institute (NFI)

The National Film Institute (NFI) is film making/ training institution established under the Nigerian Film Corporation. The Institute’s academic/ programmes are designed to cater for filmmakers and intending filmmakers in Nigeria and abroad. With courses designed for intensive theoretical and practical needs of applicants, the Institute offer tailor-made courses to meet the needs of professionals as well as novices who want to pursue a career in filmmaking.

Academic activities at the Institutes begins from 8.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday, but additional time may have to be spent during weekends for production and post-production activities. All programmes are on full time basis, for professionals, however, a short-term course is designed for them to suit their needs.

The cost of training in film making is very high worldwide but considerable effort have been made to see that students enjoy training at appreciable cost.

Every student gets the opportunity to directly or indirectly participate in a production workshop a regiment for practical experience before the end of the academic session. Students also undertake SIWES (Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme) from 3 to 6months which expose them to work with, and under professionals in the industry.

Oppportunities exist in the industry for graduates of the Institute,there is no substitution for formal education, thus, it is a joyful experience to study at NFI Jos.

National Film Institute (NTI) Jos 2015/2016 Admission Details

The National Film Institute (NFI), Jos hereby duly invites applications from all qualified candidates for admission into its Bachelor of Film Arts Degree Programme through the 2015/2016 UTME and Direct Entry modes, as well as it’s two years Diploma in Film Arts programme.

The Degree and Diploma Programmes are structured to provide academic, professional and practical training in Film Arts, Film Technology and Media Arts.

Eligibility Criteria:

1) Candidates for the 2 years Diploma Programme must possess WAEC and/or NECO Examination Certificates with not less than five (5) credits in one or two sittings. Credits must include English Language, Mathematics and Literature-in-English or Physics. Candidates must have sat for the 2015 JAMB UTME and scored not less than the approved cut-off mark for Diploma Admission.

2) Candidates for the 4 years Degree Programme must have five (5) credits in SSCE, NECO, GCE or equivalent qualifications that includes English Language, Mathematics and Literature-in-English or Physics at not more than two sittings. Candidates must have sat for the 2015 JAMB UTME and scored not less than the approved cut-off mark for Degree Admission.

Candidates awaiting WAEC/NECO results can also apply. Direct Entry candidates must obtain and fill the 2015 JAMB DE form before applying.

Method of Application:

Interested applicants are to obtain the screening forms at the Registry of the Institute, No. 7 Gbadamosi Close, behind Diamond Bank, Jos, Plateau State on payment of N3,000.00 for the Degree and N2,500.00 for the Diploma into Diamond Bank Plc account of the institution. Screening Dates:

The NFI screening exercise for applicants is scheduled to hold as follows;

Dates: Tuesday 11th – Thursday 13th August, 2015.
Venue: Main Auditorium of the Institute.
Time: 10:00 am daily.
