NDDC Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship for Masters and PhD Students

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has reopened applications for its Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship Programme. The scheme supports graduates from the Niger Delta region pursuing Master's degrees at recognised universities abroad.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicant must be from the Niger Delta region
  • Must hold a First Class or Second Class (Upper or Lower Division) Bachelor's degree from a recognised university
  • Must not be older than 40 years
  • Must have a postgraduate admission letter from a recognised overseas university
  • Must have completed NYSC (Discharge or Exemption Certificate required)

The deadline for submission of applications is April 19, 2026.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the NDDC scholarship portal at scholarship.nddc.gov.ng
  2. Complete the online application form
  3. Upload the required documents (listed below)
  4. Print the auto-generated acknowledgment slip for your records

Required Documents

  1. Recent passport photograph
  2. Local Government Identification Letter
  3. Postgraduate admission letter from a recognised overseas university
  4. Relevant degrees from recognised universities
  5. NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate

Selection Process

  1. Online Application – Submit via the NDDC scholarship portal
  2. Preliminary Shortlisting – Based on WASSCE/NECO results and degree classification
  3. Computer-Based Test (CBT) – Conducted in Rivers State; candidates must score at least 70% to proceed
  4. Further Shortlisting and Oral Interview
  5. Final Verification – Through Local Government Area and Community Development Committee

Important Notes

  • Preference is given to candidates from oil-producing host communities and LGAs
  • Deferment, change of institution, and change of course are not permitted
  • NDDC will not communicate with unsuccessful candidates at any stage
  • The Commission ensures a fair spread of courses among beneficiaries within each state
  • The scholarship amount is based on the prevailing Naira exchange rate
