National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has debunked the fast spreading talk about slashing the youth corps members’ allowance by 25%. The management said this on Tuesday, April 5 as a result of the information aired on social media.
The scheme in a statement released by Abosede Aderibigbe, its director of press and public relations, said the statement was untrue, mischievous and a piece of the writer’s imagination.
“The attention of the NYSC Management has been drawn to a statement being circulated in the Social Media about a purported reduction in Corps members’ allowance by 25%.
“Management wishes to inform Corps members and other members of the public that the statement is false, mischievous and a figment of the writer’s imagination.
“Corps members, in particular, are hereby enjoined to disregard the rumor and remain focused as they continue the service to their fatherland,” the statement said.
Members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) are known for contributing their quota to the Nigerian society. This practice has been going on for years as corp members contribute to the growth of the society either through their active participation in carrying out national assignments like elections, census and for other important functions.
In line with the endless efforts of the youth corps members in adding to the values of the nation, some corp members took to the street of Abuja and painted some road signs on Monday, April 4.
