Why Specialize in Post-Basic Nursing

Specialized nursing certifications open career advancement opportunities and typically lead to improved compensation. Critical care, perioperative, and emergency nursing specialists command higher salaries due to their advanced skills.

Specialization enables you to work in targeted healthcare environments - intensive care units, operating rooms, pediatric wards, or geriatric facilities - rather than general nursing assignments.

Professional development through specialization demonstrates commitment to nursing excellence and positions you for supervisory or teaching roles.

Choosing Your Specialization

Critical Care: Focuses on intensive care unit patients requiring constant monitoring and complex interventions.

Perioperative: Covers surgical nursing from pre-operative preparation through post-operative care.

Paediatric: Specializes in nursing care for infants, children, and adolescents.

Accident & Emergency: Trains nurses for emergency departments handling trauma and acute medical crises.

Ophthalmic: Prepares nurses for eye care and ophthalmology practice.

Gerontology: Focuses on elderly patient care and age-related health management.

After Admission

UBTH will provide examination schedules and program details following the screening process. Programs typically combine theoretical instruction with practical training in UBTH's specialized units.
