UNIBEN Postgraduate Admission 2026/2027: Requirements, Fee and Portal

The University of Benin has opened applications for postgraduate admission for the 2026/2027 academic session.

Available awards include Postgraduate Diploma, Master's degree, Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy across the university's schools, faculties, institutes and centres.

General Requirements

• Applicants need at least five credits in WASC, NECO, GCE Ordinary Level or equivalent.
• Applicants with four Ordinary Level credits may be considered where they also have OND, NCE, IJMB, Advanced Level passes or an accepted equivalent.
• Holders of pass degree or pass diploma are not qualified for postgraduate admission.
• Third-class degree holders must possess a PGD before they can be considered for Master's programmes.
• Applicants with a Master's weighted average score of 55 to 59 percent may be considered for M.Phil. first.
• PhD applicants need at least 60 percent weighted average score in their Master's degree.
• Applicants must have NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate before clearance.

• Application fee: N22,000
• Application deadline: December 31, 2026
• Acceptance fee after admission: N60,000

Apply through the UNIBEN postgraduate application portal. Applicants should read the portal instructions carefully, initiate the 2026/2027 postgraduate application, pay the application fee, submit the online form and print the application and referee forms.

Applications may not be processed unless referee reports are available. Applicants should use a personal email address and phone number for communication.
