Minimum General Requirements
Candidates for any postgraduate programme must possess a minimum of five credits including English Language and any four relevant subjects at not more than two sittings (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or TC II for Education applicants). Departmental and faculty-specific requirements also apply.
Admission Requirements
- PGD: First degree with minimum FCGPA of 1.51/5 or HND with at least lower credit.
- Masters: First degree with minimum FCGPA of 2.50/5 (or 45% if not graded by FCGPA) in relevant discipline or PGD with minimum FCGPA of 3.00/5.
- MPhil/PhD: Master's degree with FCGPA 3.20–3.49/5 in relevant field.
- PhD: Master’s degree with minimum FCGPA of 3.50/5 (or minimum 60% if not classified by FCGPA). For Clinical Oncology, applicants require MBBS and MSc in related disciplines.
Duration of Programmes
- PGD: 2–3 semesters (Full-Time), 4–6 semesters (Part-Time); Engineering PGD: 4–6 semesters (Full-Time), 6–8 semesters (Part-Time).
- Masters: 3–6 semesters (Full-Time), 4–8 semesters (Part-Time).
- MPhil/PhD: 2–3 semesters (Full-Time), 3–4 semesters (Part-Time).
- PhD: 6–10 semesters (Full-Time), 8–14 semesters (Part-Time).
Submission of Transcripts
All applicants must submit their academic transcripts to the Secretary, College of Postgraduate Studies, no later than 11th September, 2026. Soft copies of transcripts must be sent directly from the institution via official email to [email protected].
Special Requirements for PhD Applicants
- Submit a typed research proposal (maximum five pages) via the application portal, including your name, department, research topic, study background, objectives, methodology, expected outcomes, and references.
- Prepare for a virtual Proposal Defense (date to be communicated by the university).

- Pay the non-refundable application fee online.
- Continue and complete the required sections of your application.
- Print your completed application and transcript request forms after final submission.
- Send the transcript request form to your former institution to arrange transcript delivery to UNIZIK as required.
