Our website address is ulearngo.com and the full name of our legal entity is Ulearngo Education. We built the Ulearngo app as mostly a free but partly commercial app. Rest assured, we have designed the app in a manner that is aimed at encouraging students to be the best they can be. All our services are provided by Ulearngo and are intended for use as is.
About our policy
This document is used to inform users about our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of user personal information. Should you decide to use our service, please take the time to give this document a read.
If you choose to use our service, then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. The personal information that we collect is used for providing and improving the service. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this privacy policy.
The terms used in this privacy policy have the same meanings as in our terms and conditions, which are accessible at Ulearngo unless otherwise defined in this privacy policy.
App access
Be informed that the Ulearngo app is restricted based on login credentials, membership, and other well-known forms of authentication. You need to have an account with us and be authenticated in order to access the app.
As internet access is also crucial to the app’s functionality, we also request permission to use your device’s internet connection to download and update data needed for you to enjoy a personalized and real-time experience.
General information collection and use
For an improved experience, while using our service, we will require you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information, including but not limited to your name, and email address. The information that we request will be retained by us on our web and third-party servers and will be used as described in this privacy policy.
Please be informed that the app does use third-party services that may collect information used to identify you. Here are links to the privacy policy documents of third-party service providers used by the app:
Ads and advertising ID
As hinted above, the app contains ads. These are ads delivered by third-party ad networks such as Google Play Services and AdMob. You are encouraged to consult the respective privacy policies of these third-party ad servers for more detailed information on their practices as well as for instructions on how to opt-out of certain practices. Our privacy policy does not apply to, and we cannot control the activities of third-party ad networks we work with.
Google Play Services version 4.0 introduced new APIs and an Android advertising identifier (AAID) for use by advertising and analytics providers. We also request permission to use this ID when the app is installed on your mobile device. The advertising identifier is used for only advertising purposes and user analytics. It is also not connected to persistent device Identifiers (such as the device SSAID, MAC address, IMEI, and so on) for any advertising purpose. Note that it may be connected to personally-identifiable information although not without your explicit consent.
Log data
We also want to inform you that whenever you use our service, if an error occurs in the app that causes it to crash, for example, we also collect data and information (via third-party products) on your phone to send this log data to us.
This log data may include information such as your device Internet Protocol (IP) address which could be used to approximate a user’s location, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the app when utilizing our service, the time and date of your use of the service, and other statistics with the details we need to resolve the issue. Note, however, that you can decide not to report or submit an error or log data.
More on service providers
As mentioned above, we do and in other situations, may employ third-party companies and individuals for the following reasons:
- To facilitate our service;
- To provide a service on our behalf;
- To perform data storage-related or content delivery services; or
- To assist us in analyzing how our service is used.
We want to inform users of this service that these third parties may have access to their personal information. The reason is to perform the tasks assigned to them on our behalf. However, they are obligated not to disclose or use the information for any other purpose.
If you request a password reset, for example, your IP address will be included in the reset email. Services like Gmail also have privacy policies. Also, visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service like Akismet. We also use third-party services like GoDaddy, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Sucuri for hosting, storing, serving, securing, and delivering app content and user data.
Security
We value your trust in providing us with your personal Information, thus we strive to use commercially acceptable and state-of-the-art means of protecting it. We make sure your data is stored securely on your device and when in transit outside your device, we ensure your data is encrypted and transmitted as well as stored securely in the target remote location. We guarantee that data is always transferred over a secure connection using the best industry standards to safely encrypt data while it travels between your device and our servers. But remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Children’s privacy
These services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to perform the necessary actions.
We also make sure to comply with the following whenever our app is being used by someone considered to be a child:
- We make sure that any content in the app that could be seen by children is appropriate for them. The app is strictly for educational purposes and doesn’t contain any content depicting realistic violence, cartoon or fantasy violence, alcohol, tobacco, or drug use, or related references, nudity, sexual or suggestive content, any disparagement of race, creed, culture, or religion, profanity or crude humor. It is also not in any way a gambling app.
- We only display ads that are appropriate for children, whenever the app is being used by a child, and ads that are from Google Play certified ad networks, or ads served by us. This includes ads for our own apps, or from partnerships with other related and appropriate brands
- We also strive to ensure our app (including all APIs, SDKs, and ads) complies with all applicable laws and regulations relating to children, such as the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act COPPA, and the EU General Data Protection Regulation GDPR.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to a service like Gravatar to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. After approval of your comment, your profile picture if perhaps pulled from Gravatar is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, we store the images on our servers and we don’t store or use them within the app ephemerally. Please avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
Cookies are files with a small amount of data that are commonly used as anonymous unique identifiers. These are sent to your browser from the websites that you visit and are stored on your device’s internal memory.
This service does not use these “cookies” explicitly. However, the app may use third party code and libraries that use “cookies” to collect information and improve their services. You have the option to either accept or refuse these cookies and know when a cookie is being sent to your device. If you choose to refuse our cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of this Service.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site and in the app may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, and so on) from partners such as this. Embedded content from other websites will sometimes behave in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Links to other sites
This service may contain links to other sites. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. Note that these external sites are not operated by us. Therefore, we strongly advise you to review the privacy policy of these websites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, for example, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. This is also how we treat all other data generated from user activity and user-generated content.
For registered users (which will always be the case for users of our apps), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profiles. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site or have left comments or other content, or have generated any user activity, you can access the bulk of the personal data we hold about you from the app or third-party websites, including any information you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. We’re constantly working to improve the ease with which the data deletion process is carried out for users.
When you use our services, you’re trusting us with your information. We understand this is a big responsibility and we will continually work hard to protect your information and put you in control.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our privacy policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page.
This policy was last revised on July 15th, 2023.
