What is JAMB Mop-Up Examination?
The mop-up (also called supplementary or resit) examination is conducted for candidates who could not take part in the main UTME. JAMB schedules this exam a few weeks after the main examination to give affected candidates another chance.
This is different from registering for a new UTME. Mop-up candidates already paid and registered but could not sit the main exam.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is mop-up harder than the main UTME?
No. Mop-up questions come from the same question bank as the main exam. The difficulty level is the same.
Will my score be flagged as mop-up?
No. Universities cannot distinguish between main and mop-up results. Your score is treated equally.
Can I request a mop-up if I scored low?
No. Mop-up is only for candidates who could not sit the exam, not for those who want to improve their scores. To retake UTME, you must register for the next year's exam.
What happens if I miss the mop-up too?
You forfeit your registration for that year. You will need to register and pay again for the next UTME cycle.
How many candidates take mop-up?
Typically 50,000 to 100,000 candidates qualify for mop-up each year, depending on the issues encountered during the main exam.
