UI DVC – Only 9% of post-UTME candidates will be admitted
The Deputy Vice-chancellor (Academic) of the University of Ibadan (UI), Prof. Gbemisola Oke, has disclosed that only about 9.1 per cent of prospective post-UTME candidates seeking undergraduate admission into the University will be admitted.
Speaking during the Stakeholders’ Forum organised by the Distance Learning Centre (DLC), Prof. Oke stated that the institution could only admit 3,000 out of over 33,000 prospective students that met the requirement as set by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The DVC advocated for the use of Distance Learning to supplement the regular admission of students.
She said: “if we can’t meet the needs of our people through the regular face-to-face method, let us use Open Distance Learning. Education drives growth and development and it must be at the centre for any nation to make advancement”.
Oke assured that UI would ensure that the products of its DLC “are of quality and standard in strict adherence to the mandate of the Premier University”.
