How do I know if I’m eligible for the scholarship?

Physicians who meet the following admission requirements:

• Hold a Masters of Medicine Degree in Paediatrics and Child Health from the University of Nairobi, or its equivalent from any other institution recognised by the University of Nairobi Senate.
• Possess evidence of registration or be eligible for registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
• Have completed at least one year of clinical practice in Paediatrics after Masters of Medicine in Paediatrics and Child Health or its equivalent.
• Possess a certificate of good standing from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board or equivalent authority from the country of origin for International applicants.
• Pass an entry interview. International applicants who qualify for admission and who for reasons acceptable to the recruitment committee are unable to present themselves in-person for the interviews, shall undergo an interview through available media.
• Applicants whose medium of communication for their basic medical degree is not English, will be required to show evidence of proficiency in English from an institution recognized by the University of Nairobi.
• Obtain a valid professional indemnity cover during the period of training.
• Be bound to conduct themselves with integrity in a manner befitting the medical profession and in accordance with the following documents.
  – Manual on Code of Conduct and Medical Ethics.
  – Public officer’s Ethic Act, 2003 Part III general Code of Conduct and Ethics.

What are the benefits of the award?

Fellows will be trained in management of acutely and critically-ill children in the public and private, urban and rural, tertiary care and district level health care sectors which are all relevant to practitioners in sub-Saharan Africa. The PECC-Kenya Fellowship training and fellow supervision will be provided by a combination of local Kenyan and visiting experts in Pediatric Emergency and Pediatric Critical Care.
